Australian 2012 Gunpla Builders World Cup rules
General Rules
These rules are relevant to all entrants of the Gunpla Builders World Cup
- Strict inspection on all models will be carried out. Any counterfeit or bootleg kits entered into the competition will be disqualified immediately.
- Entrants are required to bring their entries to the Sydney Convention Centre on July 13th for setup.
- Entrants are required to pick up their entries on July 14th at the end of SMASH! 2012
- Prize winners are required to attend the awards ceremony to pick up their prize.
- Entrants will be required to buy a ticket for SMASH! 2012 if they are entering the event at any time. This will include collection of prizes and collection of entries. There will be no exceptions.
- Entrants may send a representative to set up and collect their kits and prizes if they are unable to attend themselves. These representatives will need to buy a ticket for SMASH! 2012 to enter the event. The representative collecting the kit must be the same as the person that set up the kit.
- Judges’ decision is final; no further correspondence will be entertained.
- Prizes won cannot be exchanged for cash or any other form.
- Event organizers shall endeavor to take care of all submitted entries. However, they shall not be held liable for any loss or damages should they occur.
Registration
Registration will require the following information:
- Valid e-mail address – We will send official announcements regarding the competition to this address
- Valid phone number – This will the number we will call to notify you if you have won a prize in the competition. We will also be calling this number to confirm your entry
- Valid postal address – We will be sending you a pack with things to include with your entry.
SMASH! and Hobbyco staff will only be using this information for running the competition.
Register online at the SMASH! events site before July 1st!
Entry Rules
There are 5 different classes in the Gunpla Builders World Cup. Entrants may enter 1 entry per class.
Open Class
This class is designed for modelers who want to push their skills to the limit by remodeling “Modding” Gundams as well as creating dioramas.
- Open to any type of kit remodeling as well as scratch building of additional parts to incorporate into the original Bandai kit.
- Entries can be entered as part of a diorama. Base dimensions of the diorama can be no larger than 50x50x50cm.
- Use of commercial full resin or resin conversion kits is not permitted.
- Models must be made from original Bandai kits.
- All grades and scales allowed.
Junior Open Class
This class is designed for all the junior modelers who want to give the competition a go. All junior entrants must be entered into this class.
- Modelers must be 14 years of age or under (Born after 01/07/1997)
- Open to any type of kit remodeling as well as scratch building of additional parts to incorporate into the original Bandai kit.
- Entries can be entered as part of a diorama. Base dimensions of the diorama can be no larger than 50x50x50cm.
- Use of commercial full resin or resin conversion kits is not permitted.
- Models must be made from original Bandai kits.
- All grades and scales allowed.
Secondary Classes
These classes is designed for modelers who are still yet to venture into the complexities of remodeling “Modding” Gundams as well as diorama construction.
- Models must be built out of the box. No modification or scratch building is allowed. Different paint and/or decal designs are encouraged as bonus points will be awarded for individuality.
- Mounting models on a display stand is highly recommended.
- Kits must be made from original Bandai kits.
- Only Bandai Gundam decals are allowed.
- Entrants that have previously won a prize for any of their kits are unable to enter any of the secondary classes.
- The secondary classes are:
- Best BB/SD kit
- Best 1/144 scale kit
- best 1/100 scale kit
Judging Criteria
All judging criteria will be out of 100 for each section.
Open and Junior Open Classes
- Painting – Line, Paint and Body decoration
- Modification – Other parts usage (except original parts) remodeling
- Creativity – Originality (Posing, Coloring, Concept, World) diorama
Secondary Classes
- Painting – Line, Paint, Body decoration
- Creativity – Posing, Individuality

- Return Trip to Japan representing Australia at the 2012 Bandai World Cup Finals. 2 nights 3 days.
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Second Prize
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Third Prize
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Junior Open Class
First Prize
- Return Trip to Japan representing Australia at the 2012 Bandai World Cup Finals. 2 nights 3 days. This includes fares and accommodation for 1 supervising adult.
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Second Prize
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Third Prize
- Trophy and Product Hamper from Bandai
Secondary Classes
The following prizes are for each of the three secondary classes.
