Jill and Siera will look at some of the common problems a lot of cosplayers face day-to-day. From time management and budgeting, to fabric choice and construction advice, right through to wearing your costume comfortably, they will offer tips on different tools and shortcuts that will help you through planning and making your costumes. Feel free to bring questions or add your own experiences!
Jill (Fataleknights) Jill attended her first convention in 2003 and has never looked back since. Debuting in cosplay in 2004 with an original design and no prior sewing experience, she has steadily pushed her boundaries and taught herself more advanced sewing techniques, wig styling and prop making. While she may not enter many competitions, she has won a modest 7 awards and completed over 50 costumes to date. As a graphic designer by day, her skills have come at an advantage to making patterns and developing details on her costumes.
Siera (Clamwings) Siera has been going to conventions since 2006 and started her forray into cosplay a year later in 2007. Five years, 24 awards and over 60 costumes later, she's here to help as best she can. She considers herself strongest in tailoring and patternmaking, but isn't a stranger to giant props, intricate jewellery or strange wigs either. She's twice competed in the Madman National Cosplay Competition (2009 and 2010), placed 2nd in 2009. She now works as a digital retoucher and is doing her best to fit costuming around her fulltime job - even more difficult than Squeenix costumes.

The Art of Leathercraft is often considered as an expensive and difficult craft, but its use in cosplay is increasing and it's much cheaper than once thought. Join Kenny as he takes you on a journey through the uses of leathercraft, from what equipment you'll need, to making basic accessories and learning advanced techniques such as armour making. If you're interested in stepping up your cosplay skills, then don't miss this panel!
Kenny (Wakaleo) Kenny has been cosplaying since 2001. In the last 11 years, he has made 33 costumes, varying from the giant plushy (Mog and Totoro) to cool armoured characters (Hypnos, Guts, Balthier, Judge Gabranth). He started using Leathercraft as a medium for cosplay in 2007, to make his first leather armour for Balthier (FFXII). His first leather shoe was made during a SMASH committee meeting! Since then, he has expanded his use of leather into many other costumes, and came second with his partner Tsubaki in the Madman National competition in 2010. Kenny is now retired from making any new cosplay costumes, and enjoys his life as a palaeontologist.
