From time management and budgeting, to fabric choice and construction advice, right through to wearing your costume comfortably, they will offer tips on different tools and shortcuts that will help you through planning and making your costumes.

Feel free to bring questions or add your own experiences!

Wakaleo’s Leathercraft Dojo

The Art of Leathercraft is often considered as an expensive and difficult craft, but its use in cosplay is increasing and it’s much cheaper than once thought. Join Wakaleo as he takes you on a journey through the uses of leathercraft, from what equipment you’ll need, to making basic accessories and learning advanced techniques such as armour making. If you’re interested in stepping up your cosplay skills, then don’t miss this panel!

Kenny
Kenny has been cosplaying since 2001. In the last 11 years, he has made 33 costumes, varying from the giant plushy (Mog and Totoro) to cool armoured characters (Hypnos, Guts, Balthier, Judge Gabranth). He started using Leathercraft as a medium for cosplay in 2007, to make his first leather armour for Balthier (FFXII). His first leather shoe was made during a SMASH committee meeting! Since then, he has expanded his use of leather into many other costumes, and came second with his partner Tsubaki in the Madman National competition in 2010. Kenny is now retired from making any new cosplay costumes, and enjoys his life as a palaeontologist.
