It’s All in the Details

Hello, Rob here.

Some of the hyper-observant amongst you may have noticed we’ve updated the layout of the Details drop down menu (the menu that flies out when you hover your cursor over the word ‘Details’ at the top of the screen). Hopefully the new layout of the menu makes it easier to find the details you’re looking for.

You’ll also notice that we’ve added two new pages. We’re lucky enough to have had a huge influx of new people expressing interest in the con and, while Wikipedia is great, well, it is Wikipedia. So that’s why we wanted to put up a page setting out the History and the structure of the Organisation.

SMASH! is people, too.

Artist Circle Registration Open!

Endling, Zombiesmile… you!

You can now register to be in the SMASH! 2010 Artist Circle. The registration system is all online so there’s no annoying forms to download, fill out and post. You just go to http://apply.smash.org.au/ and do it all from the comfort of your easy chair.

You do have an easy chair, right*?

* Easy chair not required for participation in SMASH! 2010 Artist Circle.

Be in the Artist Circle

Who doesn’t like circles? Squares, that’s who. And maybe Triangle Man.

Anyway, so this year the Artist Circle is back and tomorrow you’re going to be able to register! How cool is that? Not really very cool. But Rob and Jon and Mike spent a while building a website to handle it and they think it’s cool.

What is cool is being at an event with Shaun “Endling” Healey and Mikiko “Zombiesmile” Ponczeck. That’s cool.

We’re going to switch it on tomorrow at 7 pm, so be here and be… circle.

Win a trip to Hong Kong!

There’s a lot to be excited about at SMASH! 2010. Some conventions would have you be satisfied by having the voice actor of Asuka. At SMASH! you get TWO. You also a get a new and renovated Town Hall to shop, cosplay, sing, create and hang out in.

But if you think we’ve stopped there, you don’t know SMASH!

Announcing international guest artists Shaun “Endling” Healey and Mikiko “Zombiesmile” Ponczeck.

We tried to get him here last year, but no dice. Fate (and Texas) just wasn’t on our side, but we think it’s trying to make up for it with a two-for-one deal. Not only do we get concept and comic artist Endling, but his equally groovy fiancée will also be joining us for SMASH! 2010. That’s twice the artistic awesome!

Check out more about Endling and Zombiesmile here!

Announcing the Bandai Action Kit Universal Cup Competition

If you have no idea what that is, don’t worry. It’s about building Gundam, and it’s awesome. Bandai, in conjunction with HobbyCo and SMASH!, are proud to play host to the first Australian BAKUC competition! The best part? The winners get a paid trip to the BAKUC final in Hong Kong.

Yeah. You might want to read that last line again.

Find out more on our event page. For other hobby news and updates, why not check out HobbyCo’s Facebook group

Announcing Artist Circle Registration Date

Our venue might have changed, but our Artist table prices haven’t. Heck, we’re even making it easier to sign up with a new and shiny online application form! You’ll be able to apply for table space starting from this Saturday the 20th (with full Artist Circle info up on the Friday).

Announcing Art Competitions and Travelling Artbook registration

It wouldn’t be SMASH! without a veritable slew of art competitions, and we’re happy to present a challenging trio for 2010! The Doodling Competition is back (as always), alongside the newly re-moulded Themed Competition. In a first for SMASH!, our final competition is being run exclusively online! The Home Made Hype Competition will be taking entries through our Deviantart group.

The Travelling Artbook has also begun its journey, so if you’re interested in participating, please check out the Forum thread
