Fanfic competition! Panels & artbook reminder

Fanfic competition
SMASH! wants your words. Once again we’d like to see your creativity put pen to paper and write the strange, the out-there, the weird, the wonderful and the everyday. Take your favourite series or characters and shape and twist them to your heart’s content!

SMASH! is once again running a fanfiction competition for those interested in re-writing canon (or possibly throwing it right out the window). Find our more here.

Travelling Artbook reminder
If you haven’t checked out the delicious sneak-peak for this years Charity Artbook yet, you really should. We’re seeking artists up until the end of July, so if you’d like to contribute, give us a shout! Details on the website and forum.

Panels sign-up reminder
Are you passionate about a particular topic and want to share it with an audience at SMASH? Here’s a reminder that our panels sign-up closes on June 15! Head to our site for our easy online form.

Tickets on Sale!

Tickets on sale now!

By purchasing your tickets in advance you save time, money, and you don’t have to stand in a queue! Well, ok, you do line up with the other Advance Ticket Holders, but it’s much faster than the other queue. It’s like the express lane to SMASH! land.

“What does $20 buy me?” you might ask. $20 buys you lots of things at SMASH! Most of all though, it buys you a unique experience you can’t get anywhere else. Everything goes towards making the convention as awesome as it can be for you. How awesome?

  • Five international guests. Where else are you going to meet voice actresses Yuko Miyamura and Tiffany Grant, artists Shaun Healey and Mikiko Ponczeck, and ADV film’s Matt Greenfield? You’d totally have to fly to like, three different countries. We just saved you that trouble.
  • The first Australian BAKUC tournament, with its super special prize, a trip to Hong Kong! We think that’s pretty rad, and we can’t even enter. So do the right thing and make some awesome Gundam models for us to ogle at in the display cabinets.
  • A brand new venue, right in the heart of the city. No more bus rides to Randwick! And now with extra air-conditioning! If you haven’t seen the new Town Hall yet, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
  • More artists that we can fit in the building. We thought of putting more tables in the Gallery, but it might get a bit awkward with all those chairs.
  • Plus all those awesome things you’ve come to expect from SMASH! We like to think you expect great things from us anyway, but perhaps that’s the delusions of grandeur speaking.

In any case, we have an exciting lineup of events this year, in a brand-spanking new venue, and we hope you’ll join us in our festivities!

So go on. Get your tickets now and don’t miss out.

Volunteer Applications now open
Head on over to http://link.smash.org.au/volunteer2010 and sign up now! It’s the cool thing to do.

Maid Café Needs You

The SMASH! Maid Café is once again recruiting maids and hosts/butlers. In this ever popular attraction our café staff and volunteers dress up to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for our customers. We also have a promotion team who dance on stage at the beginning of the convention and sometimes make a few surprise visits in the café.

So what are you waiting for? If you think you can make an awesome maid or a cool host, join us now! We are recruiting both waiting staff and dancers, so please send your applications to maids@smash.org.au with a resume and photo, and we’ll get in touch with you soon!

Update: If you have any questions, please check the forum thread and our friendly staff will do their best to get back to you ASAP!
