Cosplay is the abbreviated form of “Costume Play”. It is the act of dressing up as a favourite character from an anime, manga or video game. Cosplayers often go to great lengths to create detailed and accurate recreations of the costumes of characters they attempt to portray. The Cosplay Competition itself is a beloved event in many anime conventions, often the centrepiece of the day. It allows the cosplayers the opportunity to display their creative efforts and entertain the crowd with clever skits and performances.
Cosplay is open to all people, young and old – you aren’t obligated to enter the competition, but if you wish to display your efforts and share with us your creative talents, then sign on up for the Cosplay Competition!

To enter the Madman Cosplay Competition on the day simply go to our registration table, where you’ll be registered and given further instructions.
Be sure to check the Cosplayers Code of Conduct to ensure that your costume and accessories are permissible. Props over 1m long will need to be checked into the cloak room. They will be returned to you when you require them.
Any questions regarding this should be emailed to us beforehand. Breaches of the code of conduct will result in confiscation - the items will be either permissible only on stage or not returned until after the convention.
