Cosplay Chess is back and better than ever! Returning for its second year at SMASH!

Ever wanted to see Edward Elric battle Uzumaki Naruto? Here’s your chance! Cosplay Chess is a fun game where two teams battle each other on a human-sized chess board, where the roles of the chess pieces are fulfilled by cosplayers. The game promises to result in hilarious consequences as your favourite characters face off on the chess board.


Cosplay Chess will be on in the morning in the Cosplay Room.

So what is cosplay chess you ask? Well cosplay chess is a fun even geekier version of chess. Ingredients? Take two chess players, 32 cosplayers, 1 life size board, add a dash of creativity and a dollop of zaney antics and a host who has too much time on his hands and way too much red bull, mix well in a bowl and let sit for an hour in a room temp convention environment and you have all makings of a entertaining cosplay chess! NB: SMASH does no condone the excessive consumption of red bull. but SMUSH does!

But since that didn't actually explain anything to you, I'll actually explain it to you properly. The game is played out like wizards chess, when fights occur and a piece is taken the two cosplayers fight in stead of their pieces. Eg, Riku is a queen side bishop, Winry is a pawn, bishop is taking the pawn, so Riku is therefore taking Winry. Riku and Winry will then have a mock fight (preferably a funny one), must be quick, and then Winry will die and leave the board while Riku wins and moves into her square.

Matches should be limited to 45 minutes to an hour.
