Successful applicants will be supplied with a press badge and free entry into the convention. Please be aware that all footage and recordings taken at the convention without a press badge and our prior consent can only be used for PERSONAL USE. SMASH! 2008 ANNOUNCES GUEST OF HONOUR

Japanese voice actor, Kiuchi Hidenobu, has been announced as one of the Guests of Honour to attend SMASH!, to be held in the Roundhouse at the University of New South Wales on August 2nd 2008. His visit is a first for an Australian anime convention.
Kiuchi is a talented seiyuu, well known for his role as Oshitari Yuushi from Prince of Tennis, and more recently, Ryohei Sasagawa from Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
He has also starred in a number of leading roles including, but not limited to, Kenzo Tenma (Monster), Ren Honjo (Nana), Hei (Darker than Black), Ryuuren Ran (Saiunkoku Monogatari), and José (Gunslinger Girls); his credits also include Rurouni Kenshin, Death Note, Pokemon, Hunter x Hunter and many more.

About Kiuchi Hidenobu
Kiuchi Hidenobu is a prolific seiyuu and has been the voice of many well known roles from series such as Nana, Monster and Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
In addition to his anime roles, he also teaches voice acting at the Human Academy Performing Arts College and is a radio host for two online shows, Chiraizumu no Yoru and Seishun Radio.

SMASH! is the newest anime convention to run in Australia. This event serves as a meeting place for fans and local distributors, as well as fostering a friendly environment for fans, artists and creators. Their first event was held in 2007 which was a tremendous success. SMASH! will return to the Roundhouse at the University of New South Wales for it's second year on August 2nd, 2008.

Hot on the heels of its smashing success in 2007, the Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH!) is once again returning this year with plenty of fresh content for everyone with an interest in Anime, Manga, or the art involved in them.
Recent years have seen Japanese Animation gain a significant following in Australia, with interest growing every day. And indeed, SMASH! aims not only to inform and entertain in reference to this cultural phenomenon, but also to provide an opportunity for artists, budding or otherwise, to showcase their skills and mingle with like-minded individuals.
SMASH! is a convention run by fans and artists, for fans and artists. Anyone with an interest in anime, manga, or art are encouraged to attend and experience SMASH! for themselves. Even if you are not an anime fan and are just curious, SMASH! is an excellent opportunity to witness a facet of the dynamic anime culture.
2008 will see the return of many popular events and attractions from last year, such as Cosplay Chess, the Artist Circle, and Gaming Lounge along with a number of fun and informative workshops, panels and competitions. The Maid Cafe also makes its return after its very popular reception last year. And of course, there will be a host of new events everywhere, and there is always something to do at any point in the day. Some of the debut events for 2008 include Manga Idol, Karaoke, Dollfie Panel and much more. Additionally, attendees will be able to meet acclaimed Malaysian artist Kidchan, whose fantastic digital illustrations are a must see.
Furthermore, attendees will be able to purchase merchandise from large companies including Madman Entertainment, anime societies throughout Sydney, as well as local artists and publishers including people from Generation and Oztaku eager to share their work with others.
SMASH! will be held on August 2nd in the Roundhouse of the University of New South Wales, a relatively short bus ride from Central station. Tickets for SMASH! can be pre-ordered at $10 per ticket, or bought at the door for $15.
